ADODB is a set of advanced PHP database abstraction classes. It supports MySQL, PostgreSQL, Interbase/Firebird, Informix, Sybase SQL Anywhere, Oracle, MS SQL 7 and 2000, SAP DB, Sybase, DB2, FrontBase, Foxpro, Access, Netezza, LDAP, ODBTP, ADO, and generic ODBC. A metatype system is built in, making it possible to figure out that types such as CHAR, TEXT, and STRING are equivalent in different databases. It also features portable database creation, database-backed session support (with encryption), SQL performance monitoring, and database health checks.
arc is an ASN.1 compiler written by FORGE Research for use in internal projects. It is being released under a BSD-like licence. arc creates Java source code that uses the basic ASN.1 classes that were created for use with other FORGE projects. These basic ASN.1 classes are included in the arc distribution.
NFSv4 specifies that the RPC calls be batched into a "compound" call. There is no support for this in RPCGEN. By rearranging the ONC IDL for NFSv4 into AutoGen definitions, these templates will emit the original IDL *plus* all the code to package, send, distribute, collect, return, and dispatch the results. The distributed program author merely needs to call and supply server procedures for the routines specified in the IDL. Templates for these calls and service routines is provided, too. The NFSv4 definitions are included.
AutoOpts is an integrated part of AutoGen. Based on a very simple option description file, it will process configuration files, environment variables, command line options, text strings passed by client programs, and will make the results easily accessible to the client program. It will also produce a man page and the info-doc invoking section automatically.
ClassyTcl is a dynamically loadable object system for Tcl. Both a Tcl-only and a C implementation are available. It also doesn't require patches to the Tcl core, which makes installation and maintenence easier. Performance is quite adequate. The C version is gives extra speed, and makes it possible to implement some methods in C. In contrast to other object systems for Tcl, it is not modeled after the object system designed for a completely different language, such as C. The system is simple but flexible. Classes and objects are dynamic, and can easily be queried, changed, and debugged at runtime.
CMUbik is a library for mantaining a syncronized Berkeley database over multiple hosts. It has good failure semantics and strong authentication provided by the Cyrus SASL library. Its API is very similar to that of Berkeley DB, allowing existing applications to use it very easily.
The Cyrus SASL library is a generic library for easy integration of secure network authentication to any client or server application. It supports authentication via standard plaintext methods as well as CRAM-MD5 and DIGEST-MD5 shared secret methods and KERBEROS_V4 and GSSAPI Kerberos methods. The SASL protocol framework is used by SMTP, IMAP, ACAP, LDAP, and other standard protocols.
Dante is a free implementation of the proxy protocols SOCKS version 4 and SOCKS version 5 (RFC 1928). It can be used as a firewall between networks, controlling outgoing traffic. The package consists of two parts: a socks server and a proxy client that supports socks, HTTP proxies, and UPnP. RFC 1961 (GSSAPI) is supported in both the client and the server. Commercial support is available.
