Traffic Squeezer is a Linux kernel based WAN network traffic accelerator from Doublefish Solutions. It uses methods such as traffic compression, traffic PDU coalescing, protocol specific acceleration (such as TCP acceleration mechanisms), and quality of service. Traffic Squeezer also contains custom L7filters (application protocol filters), DPI (Deep Packet Engines) and so on to control and administrate your traffic. With Traffic Squeezer, you can optimize MPLS,ISDN, leased links, Satellite Networks, and Marine Internet, and even build your own custom WAN Appliance with Traffic Squeezer. A GUI is now supported via Doublefish Solution Aquarium. Aquarium is a Web-GUI that also supports Traffic Squeezer, Squid, and other open source solutions.
downtimed is a program that monitors operating system downtime, uptime, shutdowns, and crashes and records such events. At OS startup it logs information about previous downtime. It then periodically updates a time stamp file on the disk, which is used to determine the approximate time when the system was last up and running. During a graceful system shutdown, it records a time stamp in another file. The downtimes(1) command line tool can be used to inspect records of past downtime.
mbrChunker is a utility that allows you to mount raw disk images (created by dd, dcfldd, dc3dd, ftk imager, etc.) and create VMDK files. It does this by taking the raw image, analyzing the master boot record (physical sector 0), and getting specific information that is need to create a working VMDK file that points to your raw image. It can also extract information such as heads, cylinders, and sectors per track. With version 0.3.15, the tool now has the ability to search for hex byte offsets within any binary file. It will give you the byte location for every hex pattern found. More information about this can be found in the README.
